CIMPA-UNSA-INRIA-UNESCO-VIETNAM SCHOOL
Objects and Network
Objectives:
The mere presence of the network makes now possible computations involving
data and programs from everywhere on earth. Distribution is a key technology
but poses a number of programming and engineering problems. This school
aims to prove that object technology is adequate for distributed programming.
The Java programming language will be used to support the school.
August 31st to September 11th , 1998, Hanoi (Vietnam)
Scientific Program:
This school will altern theoretical presentations and hands-on laboratory
hours.
The first part will cover the basics of Object-Oriented Languages (class,
instantiation, inheritance) and will be supported by the Java programming
language.
The second part will present network programmation from low-level IP techniques
(Internet Protocol) to remote procedure call (RPC), mobile code, remote
method invocation (RMI), reflective features, and, finally, common object
request brokers (CORBA) and distributed memory management.
Prerequisites:
A superficial knowledge of Java and C++ is desirable (but not compulsory)
Deadline for application :
April 25th, 1998
Registration fee:
2000 FF.
